Ford Oil Change Shop & Tips in Graham, NC

Oil Change
Today's vehicles are some of the most technologically advanced machines ever produced. Even an oil change isn't as basic as it used to be. Our expert Ford Service techs know their stuff and have the right parts to help make sure the job gets done right.

Why it's important to get your oil changed at regular intervals.

You want to maintain your vehicle and keep it in great shape. Regular oil and filter changes help your vehicle run with optimum efficiency. When you use the proper grade of engine oil, you can improve your mpg by as much as 2 percent.*

The right oil change at the right time.

Everyone drives differently, but be assured: we know your vehicle. And we can help maintain it at the appropriate intervals. It's not as frequent as you think, so we can help save you time. In fact, with certain vehicles, you can go 10,000 miles in between oil changes.
For 2008 and newer model year vehicles, Ford recommends that you change your oil every 7,500 miles or every six months, whichever comes first.
For 2007 and older model-year vehicles, Ford recommends an oil change every 5,000 miles or every six months, whichever comes first. You can also check Intelligent Oil Life Monitor located in your vehicle's instrument cluster message center.

Why Should I Schedule an Oil Change?

Okay, so you know how often you should have an oil change. And you know where you should have an oil change (County Ford, of course). But why should you get an oil change? The high operating temperature in your engine causes thermal breakdown of oil. Once broken down, the oil becomes less effective to act as a lubricant; without a good lubricant, parts of the engine rub together and wear each other out. Furthermore, oil has additives that effectively neutralize acids, which stop being effective over time.

If you neglect oil changes, your vehicle's engine will not last nearly as long as it could have.

What Should I Do in between Oil Changes?

Check your oil level every few hundred miles and before every long drive. Make sure your car, truck, or SUV is parked on a level surface. Remove the dipstick and clean it, then reinsert it. Remove it once again to check the level of your oil. If the oil marks up to only the "add" mark, you're likely a quart low and should add oil.

* But here's a word of caution: do not overfill. This can cause the oil to touch the crankshaft, whipping it into a froth that the oil pump can't pump very well. This allows oil to get into the parts of the engine that need lubrication.
